Banana Xanthomonas Pandemic in Rwanda
Banana production has been reduced due to BXW. The disease was identified for the first time in Gisenyi in 2005 and has spread to the Western Province of Rwanda, in Cyanzwe and Kanama districts. The incidence of this disease is currently between 60 and 70% in affected districts. The Bugarama zone in Rusizi district is also considered a high risk zone.
